Qatar has introduced a major update to its entry policy for Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) residents by extending the Hayya A2 Visa validity to 60 days, doubling the previous 30-day allowance. The decision, implemented on November 30, 2025, is expected to significantly boost regional tourism and strengthen Qatar’s position as a key travel hub in the Gulf ahead of the 2025 FIFA Arab Cup and other international events.

A More Flexible Travel Experience for GCC Residents

Under the updated regulations, residents of all GCC nations—including Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Oman—can stay in Qatar for up to two months on a single Hayya A2 Visa.

In addition to the extended stay, Qatar has now enabled multiple-entry access, allowing travelers to enter and exit the country freely during the visa’s validity period without reapplying.

This added flexibility is particularly beneficial for expatriates and frequent travelers across the region, supporting easier movement for business, family visits, and leisure trips.

Boosting Tourism Ahead of a Major Sporting Year

The timing of this change is closely aligned with Qatar’s preparation for the 2025 FIFA Arab Cup, an event expected to draw substantial footfall from across the Middle East. Tourism officials anticipate that the extended visa period will encourage longer stays and increased visitor engagement with the country’s growing entertainment, cultural, and sporting offerings.

Industry experts note that the extended visa scheme will likely translate into higher hotel occupancy, increased booking activity for travel operators, and more demand for local hospitality services.

Straightforward Application Process, Same Affordable Fee

GCC residents can continue to apply for the Hayya A2 Visa through the official Hayya Portal, submitting standard documents such as:

  • A valid passport
  • A GCC residency permit
  • Accommodation confirmation
  • Travel itinerary

Despite the extension and added benefits, the visa fee remains unchanged at QAR 100, making it one of the most affordable regional travel visas.

Part of Qatar’s Long-Term Tourism Strategy

Qatar’s decision to expand the Hayya Visa program complements its long-term vision of becoming a leading global tourism hub. Beyond sporting events, the country continues to invest in cultural festivals, entertainment programs, museum expansions, and lifestyle attractions.

Officials say the updated visa policy will help diversify the tourism sector by encouraging more regional visitors, especially expatriates from India and other Asian nations who constitute a large portion of the GCC population.

Strengthening Qatar’s Role as a Regional Gateway

The 60-day Hayya A2 Visa marks another step in Qatar’s strategy to support seamless travel and position itself as a convenient gateway for long-term stays, family travel, and business visits.

By offering greater accessibility and flexibility, the country is solidifying its reputation as a welcoming destination ahead of a major calendar year filled with sports, culture, and global events.
